OPEN DAY event at livorno MARINE ROBOTICS research centre celebrating the patron saint on may 22, 2019
On Wednesday, May 22, the Sant’Anna School Research Centre for Marine Robotics in Livorno - Scoglio della Regina, opens its doors to the public allowing visitors to explore soft-bodied underwater vehicles for marine operations. Researchers will celebrate the Patron Saint of Livorno and highlight their contributions to marine robotics.
As of today, marine robotics focuses primarily on the challenges of localization and mapping in the underwater environment. Researchers also tackle fundamental problems such as robustness, scalability, consistency, and map representation. The Sant’Anna School Research Centre will present Blue Resolution (underwater system for the monitoring and cleaning of the Ocean), Octopus (8-arm body robot octopus with excellent performance in water for dexterity, speed, control, flexibility, and applicability) and PoseiDRONE together with EU funded projects GIREPAM - Integrated Management of Ecological Networks through Parks and Marine Areas and IMPACT - Port Impact on Protected Marine Areas: Cooperative Cross-Border Actions.
May 22 Open Day event and building tours give you the chance to visit the research centre at the Scoglio della Regina, viale Italia 6, Livorno, 11.00 am - 1.00 pm and 3.00 pm – 5.00 pm.
